Welcome to 5th Grade!

The greatest thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving!

-Oliver Wendell Holmes

Fifth grade is a fun and exciting year.

Literacy is filled with novels and short stories.  We will also be working on writing, grammar and spelling.

Math will cover addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, graphing and fractions.

Social Studies is full of great information.  We will learn about American history.  We will discuss topics like Native Americans, Revolutionary War, Civil War, and much more.

Science will include electricity, simple machines, matter and energy, along with other topics.

I love fifth grade.  I hope you like it as much as I do!

My Mission Statement

ilvschool.gif

My mission is to teach my students to love learning.  I want students to enter my room each day with a motivation to learn something new.  Students will listen, question, and explore a variety of topics.  With learning come mistakes.  However, I will be there to help them learn from those mistakes.  Lastly, the students will set goals, which is a lifelong skill.  They will learn to work hard to reach their goals and their learning potential.
